Wolverines Keep Rolling with Sweep of Alaska

The CCHA season is heading for the home stretch and the University of Michigan is hitting its stride at just the right time. Michigan followed up Friday night’s 2-0 shutout of Alaska with a 4-3 win over the Nanooks on Saturday night at Yost Arena.

The weekend sweep puts the UM winning streak at 5 in a row and the Wolverines have now won 9 of their last 10 games to grab first place in the CCHA standings.

Sixth-ranked Michigan, 17-6-4 overall and 14-4-1 CCHA, rode the hot hand of goaltender Shawn Hunwick with 37 saves while senior Carl Hagelin chipped in with three assists.

Michigan next travels to Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena on Sat. Jan 29 for another matchup with rival Michigan State University at 8:05 pm.
