Chillin’ at the Big House!

The University of Michigan hockey team made itself right at home in the Big House. The Wolverines took their game outside on Sat, Dec. 11 and soundly defeated Michigan State University 5-0 on a special rink built inside Michigan Stadium before a world record crowd of 113,411.

The game, billed as the Big Chill in the Big House, featured two goals from UM freshman Jon Merrill and two goals from senior co-captain Carl Hagelin. Goalie Shawn Hunwick notched his first shutout of the season, stopping 34 shots.

Michigan now enjoys a short rest for the holidays prior to resuming play on Wednesday, Dec. 29 versus Michigan Tech in the opening round of the Great Lakes Invitational at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich. The game is slated for a 7:35 p.m. start.
